My Story:
I studied Manufacturing Engineering in school and learned all about manufacturing processes of various materials; metals, plastics and composites. Looking back now, I did enjoy getting the degree mostly because of the hands-on learning and being able to create from my own designs. Fast forward to graduation and starting my career in industry as a manufacturing engineer, the jobs are a little different than what it was like in school. I was missing the ability to create or essentially fabricate my own work.
So I've always had it in the back of my head that I'm going to need to figure out what I can do on my own that would give me that sense of creation. Then one day, pottery came to mind and I sort of knew I'd love it. Didn't really need to confirm it before diving in for whatever reason. I just knew. I think because it's just another material and process to learn and create from. I honestly think it goes hand-in-hand with manufacturing and really allows me to apply a large part of what I studied in school in order to establish my own manufacturing processes. I can't believe how much I've grown over the past couple years. I'm truly having a blast and feel so supported by my friends, family and potter community.
Thank you for making it this far and hope you stick around!
